Erin Golden, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow

Erin received her B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College in 2006, where she created her own major combining the fields of Biology, Psychology and Sociology to explore the “nature vs. nurture” influences on human behavior. Wooed by the nature side of this argument, following graduation Erin began a 2-year post-baccalaureate fellowship in the lab of Dr. Mark Mattson at the National Institute on Aging in Baltimore, MD. Here she worked on a number of projects pertaining to the role of neuroendocrinology in health and disease. In 2008 she began her doctoral studies in the Solomon H. Snyder Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University, where she studied under the guidance of Dr. Angelika Doetzlhofer to understand how developmental timing is regulated in the mammalian cochlea. Erin joined the Barlow Lab in June of 2015, focusing her studies on the molecular pathways that regulate cell fate in developing taste buds and understanding how immature perinatal taste buds transition into mature, self-renewing adult structures.

Interests outside the lab:

When not in the lab, Erin enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and exploring all of the natural beauty that Colorado has to offer – both by foot and by ski!
