Lauren Shechtman, BS
Professional Research Assistant

Lauren received her B.S. in Chemistry and Honors Integrative Biology with a minor in Business from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2017. She worked in Dr. Bruce Fouke’s lab at the UIUC Institute for Genomic Biology for three years, studying the evolution of E.coli to gradual increases in environmental stresses with an emphasis on antibiotic concentration. In 2018, she moved to Colorado and joined the Barlow Lab to work with Dr. Gaillard to explore the mechanisms underlying taste loss as a result of fractionated head and neck irradiation. She is now working to model and understand taste cell renewal using adult murine lingual organoids.
